No Peeking Card 004

Time for Christmas!  I really, really love Stampin’ Up’s Pop & Place Christmas Tag & Stamp Bundle.  The stamp set is soooo darn cute!  It’s a photopolymer set and comes with lots of perfect images for Christmas tags and I know I will get tons of use out of it this season.  I thought though, this set offers lots more versatility than just tags and I had to use it for a card!

No Peeking Card 005

I also used the Season of Style paper stack for the DSP elements and the yummy Cherry Cobbler 1″ Stitched Edge Grosgrain Ribbon.  The only fancy technique I used was to Gold Emboss the Designer Very Vintage Button.  I love how this looks and I seem to do it a lot!

I hope you are getting into the holiday swing and crafting lots of beautiful holiday goodies….I know I have been spending a lot of time making pretty things for craft shows and the upcoming holidays.

I also hope you are enjoying our creative inspiration as much as I am!  I continue to be awed by the skill and creativity of my fellow friends on this hop!  Be sure to come back every other Monday to see what we have up our sleeves for you!

Make sure you go “Back” if you missed Bree Renwick or you can loop on around by hitting the “Next” button to get to Dani Dziama and the rest of the hop!

I know it’s time to start crafting Thanksgiving and Christmas projects and I have already created a few of those type of projects but I couldn’t resist one more vintage-y unseasonal card.  I figured a thank you card fit right in with November and Thanksgiving 🙂

This card features many things I love, love, love!  Doilies (check), gold embossing (check), vintage buttons (check), a sparkly butterfly with pearls (check) and the Off the Grid stamp which seems like it might be out of place on this card but adds just the right touch!  I actually found the bones of this card on Pinterest and I will have to find it again so I can give credit where credit is due.  I’ll update this post as soon as I figure that out!  I changed it up quite a bit and I love the final result.  I hope this inspires you to make something gorgeous of your own!

I hope you are enjoying our creative inspiration as much as I am!  I continue to be awed by the skill and creativity of my fellow friends on this hop!  Be sure to come back every other Monday to see what we have up our sleeves for you!

“Undefined”…I have to admit when they launched this new line at convention this summer I just didn’t get it.  I thought the completed stamps looked a little kindergarten-y and the whole idea didn’t speak to me creatively.  But….I decided to order the kit and give it a whirl.  I really wanted my very own “glamper” stamp so that is what I made!  I have to admit, it was really fun!  and I love, love the way my stamp came out!  I gave it the Shasta wing and made it look as vintage-y trailer as I could!

Now that I had the glamper, what better colors to use than Tempting Turquoise and Real Red?  Perfect!  I used the World Map background stamp and stamped it in full strength Tempting Turquoise on a piece of cardstock cut to fit exactly on the right side of the swing card.  On top of the World Map image, I stamped “Off the Grid” in Whisper White.  Another little trick I did was to use the Chevron Punch on a 1 1/4″ strip of Real Red card stock.  I trimmed the front end to match the “V” and I trimmed the back end to fit into the fold of the card.  Then I lined up the punched out chevrons to match the strip on the top of the fold.  The last little old school technique I used was to mask the trailer and then stamp the “tire tread” image from Gorgeous Grunge under my little trailer.  After I added my tire tread, I stamped one of the Gorgeous Grunge splatters on top of the glamper image with Illuminate Ink.  I think I put Illuminate splatter on almost every card I make these days!

The whole card is full of symbolism to just hit the road and “get out there”!  I can’t wait to have my own little glamper to do just that in!  My bestie SIL just got a cute little glamper last weekend and her stove is turquoise.  I think I will send this glamper card to her to celebrate her new little home on wheels!

I’m so glad you are back to enjoy our creative inspiration!  I continue to be awed by the skill and creativity of my fellow friends on this hop!  Be sure to come back every other Monday to see what we have up our sleeves for you!

Boo Banner 004

It’s the 7th day of October and today’s post is all about Halloween!  A Halloween banner to be exact.  I took the Halloween Banner Kit and the Build a Banner Simply Created Kit and added some flair of my own to make this spooky, grungy Boo Banner.  I had lots of pieces of both kits left to make other goodies with, I love that the banner kits are so generous!  The Build a Banner Simply Created Kit comes with 18 blank canvas paper pennants, 6 of each design as well as all the stencils!  And the stencils, oh my love them!  There is a stripe, a chevron and a polka dot stencil as well as masks for the center circle for the letters.  There is also a complete alphabet!  I used the alpha for the “BOO” on my banner although I put all of my letters on circles.

With the stencils I used the sponge method and just sponged ink into the patterns.  I love the look that gave.  I also used stencil adhesive to ensure that my stencil didn’t move as I sponged the ink on. I grunged up every image with something from Gorgeous Grunge….oh.my.I.heart.that.set!  The sky is the limit with this banner kit, you can make yours exactly like the picture or change it up and make it your own.  I love and hope you do too!

I’m so glad you are back for week 4 of our Monday Montage!  I continue to be awed by the skill and creativity of my fellow friends on this hop!  Be sure to come back every other Monday for another big dose of creative inspiration!

Monday Montage Blog Hop – Week 3

mondaymontage5

Hello friends! Welcome back to Monday Montage! You should have arrived here from the amazing Bree Renwick’s blog, select the “next” button below and that will take you to the next stop on the hop, the fabulous Dani Dziama’s blog. I can’t wait to see what they have to share this week, you won’t want to miss it!

Card 5

I have had this idea in my brain ever since I saw the Perfect Blend set in the catalog! Combined with Gorgeous Grunge I think I have created the perfect blend between two of my faves: coffee & grunge! Enough with the weird puns … let’s talk about my card 🙂

Pretty simple really, I used Baked Brown Sugar cardstock and ink and Whisper White card stock. I stamped the coffee cup in Baked Brown Sugar ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out. After I cut the coffee cup out, I cut a slit in the “lid” and pushed a Starbucks stopper in. I hot glued the stopper to the back of the cup and had to cut off the bottom of the stopper with wire cutters. The stopper is a little too big for cup but I think it looks super cute! Garden Green ink matches the Starbucks stopper exactly and I used that for the sentiment. The stopper and the hot glue behind the cup give the whole card a lot of dimension, that cup just pops right off the front of the card!

The rest is the big splatter from Gorgeous Grunge in Baked Brown Sugar added full strength and stamped off to the base and some embellishments.

I hope you have enjoyed my card today! It’s been a rough week at work this week and coffee is just about the only thing that has gotten me through it; so it is really fitting that today’s creation features coffee!

I’m so glad you are back for week 3 of our Monday Montage! The last two weeks have been filled with amazing and beautiful creations! So don’t forget to come back every other Monday for another big dose of creative inspiration!

This week I am sharing a card that features some of my fave colors right now.  I have been stamping EVERYTHING in Encore Silver or Gold!  Just love the way this ink looks on lotsa cardstock!  Yummy 🙂

My base is Whisper White with a smaller piece of Smokey Slate embossed with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder.  I punched several patterns of Eastern Elegance DSP with my Hexagon Punch.  Some of these are adhered to the card flat and a couple are popped up on dimensionals.  I love the effect this gives to this simple and elegant card!  I stamped the sentiment in Silver Encore ink on Crushed Curry cardstock and punched it out.  Isn’t that beautiful?  Final touches are a piece of Crushed Curry Chevron Ribbon and some Rhinestones.

I hope you have enjoyed my card as much as I enjoyed making it!  I felt the need for something simple, the last few weeks in my world have been anything but simple between work and home and this card was just what the doctor ordered:  clean & elegant!

I’m so glad you are back for week 2 of our Monday Montage!  I thought the last group of projects we shared were simply amazing!   So don’t forget to come back every other Monday for another big dose of creative inspiration!

This week I am sharing a card that was inspired by the super talented Cathy Caines!  I have really, really wanted to try this technique ever since I saw her amazing creations!  The base of this card is Whisper White and I cut a second piece of Whisper White 5 1/4″ x 4″ to build my masterpiece on.  I spritzed the smaller piece of cardstock with Tempting Turquoise re-inker mixed with alcohol.  I love how this looks!!!!  I built from there:  I added some splats from Gorgeous Grunge in Tempting Turquoise and I added Off the Grid in White Craft Ink on top of that.  Its really hard to see in the pics, but I added the larger splat from Gorgeous Grunge in Illuminate Ink randomly over the card.  It adds some of that shimmer that is so near and dear to my heart 🙂

I hope you enjoyed our very first Monday Montage!  Plan to come back every two weeks to see what we’re up to, I promise it will be fun and inspire you to make something pretty too!

Today’s post features my second 3D entry.  I just love this project and I have to say I started on it weeks before entries were due and worked on it as a whole for quite some time!  This is a chalkboard frame that I put together and embellished.  I bought the frame from Michael’s and it had a recessed area where the picture would go.  I painted and distressed the frame and added chalkboard paint to the recess.  The laser cut wood frame came from Michaels also, it features most of the embellishments.

Highlights:  The pictures tell most of the story on this project but here are some of the details.  I made flowers with the Simply Pressed Clay and Molds.  I dyed the clay with Primrose Petals and Soft Suede and sponged them and added gold highlights with my trusty Gold Lame Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink.  For the pennants I stacked Tea for Two DSP strips, crochet trim, a painted doily and buttons.  For this pennant, too much was not even enough!  I added and added until it looked over the top!  For the top banner I gold embossed a sentiment from Really Good Greeting on Vellum, added gold smooch highlights and a button and crochet trim.  The rest of the frame I sponged with Soft Suede and added gold smooch in random spots.  I also stamped the script image from By the Tide in the bottom right corner.  For the final touch, I added the chalk art “Inspire, Create & Share” on the chalkboard.

I sure hope you have enjoyed this hop as much as we have enjoyed sharing our creations!  Make sure you join us on Monday, August 26th for the premier of “Monday Montage”.  Look for the logo below and you will know you are in the right place!

This is my last card entry.  I actually had a couple more cards I sent in to Stampin’ Up but I’ll share those later.

This card features the Epic Day This and That DSP and Washi Tape.  I also used the large image from Layered Labels on its side as a background image.  I love how that looks!  I inked up one of the images from From My Heart with a marker only inking the border and leaving off the sentiment.  I stamped that on some Very Vanilla and used a framelit from the Labels Collection to cut it out.  I highlighted the image with the Gold Smooch Ink…love that too!  My favorite feature on the card is the tiny balloon from Collage Curios that I gold embossed on to  Vellum Cardstock.  After I punched it out, I added Gold Lame Smooch Pearlized Ink to the edges and attached it to one of the small Soda Pop Tops.  Loved those little guys, so very sad they have retired!  This time I painted my doily with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint.  As soon as we got the doilies, I have added them to 8 out of 10 projects.  Once I tried painting them with the shimmer paint, I couldn’t help but do it every time!  Yummmm-O!

I hope you enjoy my card as much as I enjoyed making it!  Happy Funday Sunday!  Hopefully your Sunday included some creativity too 🙂

Here are the products I used:

Stamps:  Label Love, Layered Labels, Collage Curios, From My Heart

I have my last scrapbook page to share today!  This is an 8 x 8 page of my son Dylan and his beautiful girlfriend Randy.  We were actually on a road trip moving them from Arizona back to Colorado.  It had been an exhausting couple of days but they looked wonderful don’t you think?

The page primarily features the Epic Day This and That line along with my faves (as you already know) doilies, First Edition DSP and Vintage Faceted Buttons.  I also incorporated some great stamps from the photopolymer set Designer Typeset and the May 2013 Paper Pumpkin.  One of the things I love most about this page (besides my beloved kids) is the banner.  I made this with the photopolymer banner stamp in the Designer Typeset set.  I was able to curve the banner image exactly how I wanted it on one of the big acrylic blocks.  I stamped the image on Very Vanilla Cardstock in Soft Suede Ink.  Then I cut the banner out very carefully along the outside of the stamped image.  Next I cut up some of the Canvas Creations into banner shapes and did some stamping and sponging on it.  I also cut a couple of pieces of the Epic Day This and That DSP into banner triangles.  I adhered canvas and DSP banner pieces randomly on the banner leaving some of the banners the plain Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I took Linen Thread and wrapped it around the top of the banner leaving the two ends longish and knotted.  I stamped ” ME & U” with the Designer Typeset set and finally I added the banner to the page, popping it up with dimensionals.  The page also features a doily painted with Frost White Shimmer Paint (can you tell I was REALLY into this technique when I was making projects to enter?) and some machine sewing.   Another product I really loved and I used on this page was the thick Baker’s Twine that came in the Boutique Boxes Designer Kit….yummy!  I mixed it with the Calypso Coral Baker’s Twine on the button.

One of the things I love about the photopolymer sets is that they evoke the hobo signs of years ago, the arrows and “the good life”.  I thought that was perfect for my page commemorating our travels this summer 🙂

I hope you love this page as much as I do and it inspires you to make a beautiful page of someone you love today too!

Here are the products I used:

Stamps:  Designer Typeset Photopolymer, Remember This & That Rotary Stamp, Netting, Clockworks, Paper Pumpkin Image – May, 2013

Ink:  Soft SuedeBaked Brown Sugar, Island Indigo

Cardstock:  Epic Day This & That DSP, First Edition DSP, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake

Embellishments:  Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons, Canvas Creations, Linen Thread, Calypso Coral Baker’s Twine, Boutique Boxes Designer Kit,  White Tea Lace Paper Doilies, Frost White Shimmer Paint
