Colorado Mountain High!

Monday Montage Blog Hop – Week 156!!!

Hello friends! Welcome back to the Monday Montage Blog Hop!  You won’t want to miss the amazing prettiness that I know you will find at all the stops along the way!

When I saw this stamp set in the new Mini Catalog I knew I absolutely had to have it and couldn’t wait to create some fun things with it!  The mountain and tree images are just crying out to be colored with the pigment sprinkles.  The sprinkles create a variegated effect that is so perfect to mimic nature!  To get this fabulous effect, I heat embossed the images in white on watercolor paper.  Then I sprinkled the powder on dry…a little goes a very long way so be judicious in your sprinkling!!  You can always add more powder if you need to once you spritz.  For the mountains I used Gorgeous Grape powder and for the trees I used a combination of Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green.  After I spritz with water and have the look I want (remember water activates the color crystals), I usually dry the image with my heat gun.  This tends to burn the crystals slightly and I love how this looks.  The random heated spots get kind of sparkly and they create super dark spots in your scene.  I just love the look of these!  The pigment sprinkles also give the look of a complicated coloring process when in reality the whole thing only takes a few minutes!  Once your images are dry, die cut them with the coordinating dies and voila you have the pieces of a gorgeous card!

I experimented a bit with my sky creating a night sky by sponging Pacific Point (around the moon) and NIght of Navy for the darker portions of the sky.  I added stars with white gel pen and spots of Fine-Tip Glue to adhere Dazzling Diamonds “stars”.  The other sky is watercolor paper that is lightly washed in Balmy Blue.  On both cards I layered die cut mountains or die cut mountains and trees.

I hope you love these as much as I do!  Such a perfect set for a Colorado stamper don’t you think??

Monday Montage Blog Hop – Week 155!!!

Hello friends! Welcome back to the Monday Montage Blog Hop!  You won’t want to miss the amazing prettiness that I know you will find at all the stops along the way!

It’s a new year and that means Sale-a-Bration with Stampin’ Up!  Whoop!  It’s my favorite time of year and it’s a great time to get awesome free goodies with your stampin’ orders.  My card today features two freebies – the Lovely Lily Pad set is free with a $50 order and the coordinating Lily Pad dies are free with a $100 order.  These two items combine everything I love in a stamp set and dies:  the flowers are super fun to color with blends or watercoloring and the dies have some fun cut out dies in addition to the main images.

My card is really very simple to make – easy watercolored flowers and a dry embossed background.  I left the sentiment off, this card is perfect for a sweet hello to a friend, a thank you or a birthday remembrance.

Hello friends! Welcome back to the Monday Montage Blog Hop!  You won’t want to miss the amazing prettiness that I know you will find at all the stops along the way!

I love, love, love making samplers!  There is something so sweet about creating a bunch of tiny vignettes that all coordinate together 🙂  I can’t seem to stop with these lol.  I am in Las Vegas for work in a training class for the two weeks before Christmas…Santa is struggling a bit being out of town.  The Santa in the sampler is the cutest thing evah!  He is so much fun to color.

Monday Montage Blog Hop – Week 153!!!!

Hello friends! Welcome back to the Monday Montage Blog Hop!  You won’t want to miss the amazing prettiness that I know you will find at all the stops along the way!

I know we just had Thanksgiving and we still have a few weeks before Christmas but I just had to play with new toys today!  I couldn’t resist the new Tropical Oasis Suite coming in January in the new mini catalog.  We have had a LOT of snow already in Colorado and it is a few feet deep still around my house.  I needed a little tropical in my life 🙂  The first card I made is more for the avid stamper, it has a simple beauty to it but it required a little heat embossing and watercoloring.  I think the final result is stunning!  The second card is more for the casual stamper.  It uses the dies that are in the suite and some simple stamping.  The extra layers and die cuts really elevate a quick and easy card.  Isn’t the little guitar/ukelele thing the cutest ever???

Here’s a little trick I did with the palm trees and the pineapple die cuts.  I stamped both images twice in different colors.  I die cut the images and then trimmed out the top of the trees and the top of the pineapple and popped those up on top of the other die cut with dimensionals.  This gave me extra dimension on the card and I was able to do the stamping with an ink pad instead of coloring the stamps with markers.  I love how it came out!

Monday Montage Blog Hop – Week 152!!!!

Hello friends! Welcome back to the Monday Montage Blog Hop!  You won’t want to miss the amazing prettiness that I know you will find at all the stops along the way!

I just got home from OnStage in Las Vegas!  This was a Stampin’ Up event to celebrate the achievements of the last year, see new products coming out in January and mostly to spend time with friends from all over the world!  I went to two extra events before and after the Stampin’ Up official event that were so much fun!  At one of them we swapped table gifts with the girls at our table and everyone made the cutest things!  Part of my table gift was this little trailer.  I saw a trailer made out of the Mini Curvy Keepsakes Box die and I just had to make my own!  This one flew to Las Vegas and back with me so it is a little travel worn but no less cute!

I am so in love with the Feels Like Frost DSP!  It is so easy to make something elegant and lush with this paper!  This card has about 5 billion layers but I just couldn’t help myself, I had to keep adding stuff lol!  Ultimately this is not a card I would make a bunch of, but one I would make for someone special 🙂

We held our 12th Annual Stampin’ for a Cure yesterday here in Colorado Springs.  We raised a bunch of money for local cancer patients.  It was a very fun and busy day!  This was the card a designed and sponsored for one of our projects.  It was fun to share stamping with so many newbies 🙂  This card was quick and easy to put together and made our new stampers want to come back for more!

Hello friends! Welcome back to the Monday Montage Blog Hop!  You won’t want to miss the amazing prettiness that I know you will find at all the stops along the way!

I am kinda in love with the new Sailing Home stamp set.  I not only love the nautical theme and goodies but the sentiments are so wonderful!  Who’s with me on this???  Today I picked my fave and created my card around it 🙂 I think it works for many things but is perfect for all the graduations this time of year!

New stamps, old colors!!!

Monday Montage Blog Hop – Week 139!!!!

Hello friends! Welcome back to the Monday Montage Blog Hop!  You won’t want to miss the amazing prettiness that I know you will find at all the stops along the way!

Today I merged some old colors that are my absolute faves with new stamps!!  I am finally playing with new pre-order products after trying to not be enticed by them while focusing on faves that are retiring 🙂  This card features my favorite retiring In Color Lemon Lime Twist and another fave Bermuda Bay…they just go together like peanut butter and jelly…I am really going to have a hard time saying farewell to Lemon Lime Twist!!

And this suite of stamps and dies?!!???  oh my goodness I just love them!!  I did super vibrant watercoloring today by dropping re-inker right on to wet watercolor paper.  I usually go for a more subtle watercolor look but I had kick it up a notch today!  To get the sparkly pens and pencil, I colored with blends and then added 2-way glue and dipped in Dazzling Diamonds.  It added the perfect sparkle to go with the sentiment 🙂

Lovely Falling Flowers!

Monday Montage Blog Hop – Week 138!!!!

Hello friends! Welcome back to the Monday Montage Blog Hop!  You won’t want to miss the amazing prettiness that I know you will find at all the stops along the way!

My crafting has been focused on retiring favorites these days.  Another one I am sad to say goodbye to is Falling Flowers and the May Flowers Framelits.  I love this combo so much!  I actually purchased the framelits a LONG time before I finally remembered to get the stamp set lol.  I have used the flower die cut many, many times and I will miss it a lot!

This card features Granite Gray, Bermuda Bay, Old Olive and Poppy Parade.  The color combo is so pretty together!  I used the stained glass technique with my blends, vellum and white embossing the images.  I love how everything came together into a beautiful birthday card for someone special 🙂
