Colorado Mountain High!

Monday Montage Blog Hop – Week 156!!!

Hello friends! Welcome back to the Monday Montage Blog Hop!  You won’t want to miss the amazing prettiness that I know you will find at all the stops along the way!

When I saw this stamp set in the new Mini Catalog I knew I absolutely had to have it and couldn’t wait to create some fun things with it!  The mountain and tree images are just crying out to be colored with the pigment sprinkles.  The sprinkles create a variegated effect that is so perfect to mimic nature!  To get this fabulous effect, I heat embossed the images in white on watercolor paper.  Then I sprinkled the powder on dry…a little goes a very long way so be judicious in your sprinkling!!  You can always add more powder if you need to once you spritz.  For the mountains I used Gorgeous Grape powder and for the trees I used a combination of Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green.  After I spritz with water and have the look I want (remember water activates the color crystals), I usually dry the image with my heat gun.  This tends to burn the crystals slightly and I love how this looks.  The random heated spots get kind of sparkly and they create super dark spots in your scene.  I just love the look of these!  The pigment sprinkles also give the look of a complicated coloring process when in reality the whole thing only takes a few minutes!  Once your images are dry, die cut them with the coordinating dies and voila you have the pieces of a gorgeous card!

I experimented a bit with my sky creating a night sky by sponging Pacific Point (around the moon) and NIght of Navy for the darker portions of the sky.  I added stars with white gel pen and spots of Fine-Tip Glue to adhere Dazzling Diamonds “stars”.  The other sky is watercolor paper that is lightly washed in Balmy Blue.  On both cards I layered die cut mountains or die cut mountains and trees.

I hope you love these as much as I do!  Such a perfect set for a Colorado stamper don’t you think??
